So this past week, my mom, who is living in Rexburg and going to BYU-I, informs me that my stepdad has been turned down for a job there specifically for having been through a divorce earlier in his life. Obviously this made me livid, as my opinion of so many of the church's policies are so negative. Apparently it is a common requirement throughout all of CES?
Anyway, I've been stewing about this for a week, but I got a call from my mom today telling me that they sent a letter to the President of BYU-I, who read it from a hospital bed after having a kidney or something removed, was moved by the letter, and discussed it with the board. My stepdad was called and offered the job this afternoon. Apparently they have voted to change the entire policy because of this.
I will be interested to hear how this decision effects things church-wide.
