    Going to Church Tomorrow

I can't take this inactivity no mo'. It's like a chunk of my soul has atrophied. It's been almost one year since I have partaken of the Sacrament. My mother's invalid state has kept me house-bound, but I have asked my companion to sit with mom so that I can at least attend the first hour, from 12.30 pm to 1.30 pm. I need to dwell with ye Saints and sing the hymns and be a Latter-day Saint. It's an experiment. Can I leave my mom in the hands of my friend and will all be cool? I'll be gone for but an hour and 1/2. I told myself that I would just wait until either mom passes on or we are finally forced to put her into a home--but that may be years away, and I can be inactive no longer. It has me nervous so I had to announce it somewhere, and y'all are people I trust. Thank you so much for that! Love and angst.

Good for you Hopfrog. My family was in a similar boat with both mom and dad. You will be blessed for your dedication to your mom.

That's a tough situation. I hope your ward's sacrament meeting is particularly good tomorrow.
        Not that, sickos.

I hope you have a wonderful day. Also, my 18 month old daughter loves your avatar.

It's been nice having you posting again. Good deal with you being able to get to church. You'll be better able to care for your mother because of it.

That is the coolest avatar ever.

Hopfrog, please don't change it. Best wishes tomorrow.

Thank you all. One depressing note: I've grown so stout sitting here writing books and not getting any exercise (plus my partiality for pizza ) that I cannot fit into my dress slacks--so I'll be very formal in black jeans.

The avatar is one of the huge photographs from my friend David's MORMON FAG exhibition. When I first returned to activity, two years before I was allowed to be re-baptized, I celebrated by having this exhibition of super-huge photos of me in drag, but some with LDS imagery, such as my t-shirt in this one with a cover from the Ensign enlarged. That image is now safety-pinned to the back of one of my punk jackets. The opening of the exhibition was rad. We had the missionaries, a member of my Bishopric and a few other Latter-day Saints, plus lots of queer, drag and punk chums. I was in big Boy George drag. We gave out two or three copies of the Book of Mormon. We had promotional tickets printed up, and during an interview with my Bishop I handed him one. "This is for a little thing we're doing, the Mormon Fag Exhibition." "The what!!!" He was not amused. Little wonder it took them two years to decide I was cool enough to make it official and enter again into ye waters of baptism.

Oh yeah--gotta be a Missionary and testify that the new BARBRA STREISAND cd is FABULOUS!!!!

Good to hear, hopfrog. Glad to know that you want to return because it means you value your participation.

As for the avatar, I'm not a Streisand fan, but I can overlook it because you're the focus of the pic.

Too bad it's not the 5th ward.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

Best of luck at church tomorrow. There is little more that gives me fulfillment than worshipping with my friends. I hope you feel fulfillment today.

True. Nothing like singing the hymns with fellow Saints. Enjoy, HF. I hope you are refreshed and renewed.
