    A story from Lamoni, Iowa

Only tangentially a Foyer post, but I put it here because the event took place in Lamoni, Iowa, where the Community of Christ's equivalent to BYU, Lamoni College, is located.

The story is very interesting all by itself. Are there any RLDS members of Congress? I wonder of the family in the story might be.

    Stupid robber.

The man grabbed the birdlike older woman, who suffers from rheumatoid arthritis and teeters without her cane, and repeated his demand: “Get me the money!”

Something came over Dody Boswell that she couldn’t later explain, except to say, “You know what? I felt love.” An instinct from handling a learning-disabled classroom at Lamoni Middle School, she suspected. With a muzzle to her temple, she reached up with her right hand and cupped the neoprene-covered cheek of the assailant.

“Oh, no!” she said, emphatically and softly. “You shouldn’t be doing this.”

The assailant lowered his gun. Dody turned to find her purse.

Suddenly Mitchell rounded the corner and entered the foyer. He silenced the shouting, without uttering a word. The freckled, sturdy 22-year-old stood in aim stance, pointing his great-grandfather’s air-pump shotgun, with a round in the chamber, a finger on the trigger and both eyes trained on the intruder.
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

Dig your own grave, and save!

I spent a significant amount of time in Lamoni as a missionary. I loved that town; it would take a whole day to tract one street. You almost always got in if a person was home; they were always happy to see the "Mormon Elders." The older guys would like to talk about things like Book of Mormon gGeography (sometimes they would break out their hand made maps). Also, sometimes you would run into Apostles (not of the Community of Christ but little break offs). Plus, how can you not like a town that has a Chief Lamoni Motel.

        The guy is COC.

He's part of the conservative Democrats (can't remember what they call themselves). Seems like a decent human being.
