Most of us have been friends for years. I've personally met something like 30 people here. This board is only nominally anonymous. So when we get uncivil at each other, it usually fades with time. Sometimes the entire thing is a ruse in the first place.

I disagree with Indy on a great many things, for example, but I also have several years of history interacting with him, most of which is overwhelming positive. And I know he's not dumb. So I have an interest in continuing to interact with him. Same with most everybody else that's been here for a while.

Plenty of people have showed up here and fit in, but they did it by wading in slowly, putting in their two cents in a reasonable manner, not pissing people off, and building up credit. And over time - usually not much - they become one of us and we care what they think, even though we disagree with them usually, because they become friends.

If Pellegrino and Jarid are telling you to tone it down, you should listen. There are not two more respected and less controversial people on here.

Is it really that offensive to call people out for lying to get a temple recommend? Really? Is that what this board has come to?

Hey, UVA, let me suggest a test: If you were sitting across the lunch table with the folks here would you talk to them the way you are? I'm not singling you out, just suggesting a way to converse around these parts.

How was he lying? I read it that he defines prophet seer and revelatory differently than you do. I don't see that as lying. Of course, I'm a live and let live type of guy and don't care to judge other people's beliefs.

I am one of the least civil people here. Recently, I had a comment I directed at you deleted and I was called out by many people over the content of it. I took a week's break from the board because someone suggested I needed to recalibrate my filter, so I did. My conclusion was just because you were being an obtuse boor that didn't give me the right to vulgarly describe my anger with your position the way I did. That's introspection and listening to the advice of friends. Read what pellegrino and dippy say here to you. It's similar to what I was told. And, for real, if pellegrino is calling you out, something's amiss. He never does that.

Woot was uncivil in his post, but most will overlook that because we know him and we know that it's not his usual m.o. He spent a bit of his credit on that one. If her were to continually post responses like that with then he would quickly run out of credit.
