  • Missionaries visiting other churches

What were rules in your mission? I knew of know rules about it but personally did not like it. We attended a Kingdom Hall on our mission. Than gave someone a hard time about attending a Methodist Church with a recent converts parents. They did to be fair I guess to parents. I made the mistake of mentioning going to a Jehovahs Witness church before harping too far on them.

Did attend a few pentecostal churches. I would not mind attending on occasion for entertainment purposes. And going along with the speaking in tongues and so forth. Inappropriate to do as missionary. Singing and DAncing. Went to a Baptist Church. After bashing some prominent person some time before. Boring as heck. I am sure most Protestant churches are that way. Did visit a RLDS service in Tarpon Springs Florida too. Churches were we stayed tell after people were friendly to us.

The mission is the only time I been in churches besides the LDS Church that I can think of. Thought of attending Presbyterian and Four SQuare churches i Rexburg never made it though. Good sleep apenia.

What were rules on missionaries visiting other churches in your missions? For me I was not out there to do that and either entertaining or boring if I did go.

Our only rule was you had to be respectful and not proselytize on or near their property. Actually, that may have not been a mission rule, but it was my rule.

I visited catholic churches a bit. Went to midnight mass once and a funeral service (four of us missionaries actually sang an LDS hymn at the service).

In one small town we'd usually attend the local pentacostal church after we taught English class since we had nothing to do from 8pm to 9:30pm and it was P-day eve. We'd even get up and bear our testimonies once in a while.

I attend the JWs celebration of Christ death as well. That was fun and interesting.
"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf
