  • How has your faith evolved?

Recently I have been reflecting on how my faith has evolved over the past several years and I recognized the role that CUF has played in that. I'm curious to see how the board has evolved.

In choosing the answers to this poll, I mean no disrespect to LA Ute or Seattle Ute, as they are both upstanding members of the community whom I deeply respect. I chose them because they are quintessential representations of the two archetypes that pull at all of us (well, nearly all of us) in our religious lives; the one staying close to his roots, remaining admirably faithful, and the other moving on, finding new joy in different pastures.

Notice there is no middle ground here and that's intentional. We CUFfers love the middle ground too much. If you don't like the binary you can always abstain from voting.

I don't expect this thread to be long because I realize that any explanation of where your faith has gone is likely going to be a repeat of other threads and posts, but if you feel so inclined to share how and where your faith has evolved then go ahead.

Knock it off. This board has enough problems without a dose of middle-age lechery.

Both. My faith in Jesus Christ has the function of LA Ute with the style of Seattle Ute.

Interesting that if you opt for LA your faith has gone south. I imagine Seattle will exploit this for some kind of symbolic value.

I really don't think my faith has really evolved much. It's been strengthened and reinforced by a practical application of Gospel principles and an observation of how its helped others and conversely, hurt those that have chosen another path.

I voted more towards SeattleUte. Slam dunk SeattleUte.

No effect. My faith is really simple and it works for me.

Clearly all the non-votes belong to you.

I know SU's faith. What is LA Ute's faith?

you make a good point. I venture LA and I are not two opposite poles (he can speak for himself). A clearer poll would be woot vs. tex.

I did not say you were opposites.

The essential elements my knowledge and awareness of the divine/spiritual is pretty much out of reach (and, it would seem, grasp) of any of SU's charming diversions or any of CUF's fraught banter about Church history and BOM historicity.

G-d is real and I know it. The human soul is immortal and our existence doesn't end in mortality. I know that too. I have personal experience with those realities that obliterate any of the arguments against them. I understand that I can't transfer those experiences to other people, but they're as real as anything in my material environment.

I have deep convictions that the teachings of the Church frame the best known system for living a happy, meaningful and fulfilling life, although I don't think it's the only way to do that and I am past believing that G-d thinks that. I am comfortable with the Church's claims to revealed origins, though I think we tend to overstate the exclusivity of our truths. That said, none of that has anything to do with anything I've ever read on CUF.

I've gravitated more toward LA Ute specifically because of SeattleUte.

All kidding aside, I've become more mainstream as of late, but don't know precisely what role CUF has played (if any).
