    Asked to speak Sunday on benefits of Missionary work

    What should I talk on. Could tell about Neals talk of the New Zealand Rubgy player. How we should stay worthy and prepare and the blessings. Another kid is giving his talk before he leaves.

    I am glad they did away with farewells. A funeral with a live participant on average 60 years or so befoe he dies. And we need to come. I was not fond of them or there hype. But will share service with kid going on mission.

    Bobs Return with Honor good book on missionary service to quote too. If i am on first name basis with brethern probably will not go over well in church.

    Telling people to donate to missionary fund and telling of Glenn Paces experience in Africa were he said you need to be more dependant. Some talk ideas I think I could use.

      If I was assigned this subject I would be tempted to mention the economic benefit of missionary work. Utah and other more mormon populated areas of the country transfer millions of dollars to the less mormon populated areas of the world each month!

          This could be worth the drive to Idaho. Try to mix in some Alvin Dyer quotes.

              Utah itself gets plenty of economic benefit out of missions. Most of the families I know outside of Utah that send their sons on missions, equip and wardrobe them in Utah prior to entering the MTC. And I plan on doing the same because a missionary will need a suit that will not fall apart after two months use in Bolivia.

              But you do mention a good point about the transfer of money from LDS populated areas in the US to third-world countries.
