Does CUF have an honesty problem?

It sure seems like a lot people need to qualify their statements or opinions. Wouldn't it be easier to admit when your not being honest? "Just being honest"???

I don't think it has anything to do with honesty. It's more of an attempt to diffuse tension or ameliorate hurt feelings when a poster makes a truthful statement that may cause offense to the poster to which the statement is made.

I'm glad you raised this AV. Some folks have problems with understanding this type of nuance. Just being honest.

        Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

I'm not the least bit prejudice, but some Ameriasians can be big meanies. Don't even get me started on Daytonites.

I think he is forgetting that he questioned the honesty of the entire board membership while whining about a couple soft jabs thrown his way.

As awesome as this song is, it's not even one of Henry's best. Hard to believe, but it's true.

See, that doesn't work as well. That puts you in the position and having said something that you know will hurt another. It doesn't reflect well back onto you. And it causes the recipient of your honesty to focus on you, not on making himself/herself better.

Now, saying "Just being honest" has none of that. It stands on its own. The recipient is left to consider the possibly offensive comments and realizing that they are indeed truthful, will look inwardly to better himself/herself. No blaming of others, just self-betterment.

Who could have predicted such a hubbub over such a simple turn of phrase.

Boyd K. Packer, "do you want it with sugar, or without?"

Henry B Eyring, "I should have asked for the sugar".
