I don't remember the exact but years ago (I was in HS) we were visiting my aunt in Denver. She drove us past a concert venue and said, "That is where they WERE going to build the temple, but the neighbors thought it would be too loud and would bring in too much traffic. Now they have loud outdoor concerts. The joke's on them.."
I remember some people complaining about the Hsi Lai Buddhist temple in Hacienda Heights when it was under construction, until people started walking up and down the streets offering to pay cash for their houses. Then the neighbors LOVED it.
That place is very beautiful and peaceful, and is a good addition to the area IMO. (It was also a convenient place for Al Gore to accept Chinese-funded campaign contributions...allegedly).Comment
