So I have this home teacher that came to our home maybe three times in about three or four years. He's a bishop up on campus and has some important job in the church. About six months ago they make me his home teacher and I extend the same courtesy to him he did to our family and I only visit occasionally. Well he turns me in to the HP leader because I haven't been showing up. If this were baseball I'd be running out to the mound right now.

He just asked that I go visit which I will do. I was just bummed this guy who felt that HT wasn't important enough to go visit felt like he needed someone to come to his house. I'm fine with the yearly visits and I thought this guy would be also.Originally posted by Surfah View PostWhat is the HPGL going to do?

If I saw the guy at the golf course it was a visit so the numbers looked good. The HPGL told me that this guy said he hadn't been getting Home teachers which he was true but I was just following his lead. It's my fault because I just assumed that's what he preferred.Originally posted by Katy Lied View Post???
Wouldn't the HPGL know when you turn in your HT reports? How do you know this guy narc'ed on you?

This is why I request inactive members for hometeachees. They couldn't give a rat's butt if we show up."If there is one thing I am, it's always right." -Ted Nugent.

That is an awesome idea.Originally posted by Uncle Ted View PostThis is why I request inactive members for hometeachees. They couldn't give a rat's butt if we show up.
1. They don't care if you don't come
2. You look like a hero when you request them
3. You can just say "they wouldn't let us come over" when reporting zero visits, and you are in the clear.

One of the benefits of being in the EQ presidency is we get nearly ALL of the inactive members/DNC's.
The problem with being in the EQ Presidency is we go visit them anyway.
If this same issue came up in our ward, I would assign RC Viking and Student Ward Bishop to each other, and tell them to swap months and count the visit for both families.

One inactive family that I home teach invites me and my son over to watch football or something all the time. In fact, we are going over for the superbowl. Looks like we'll be 100% this month.Originally posted by Clark Addison View PostThat is an awesome idea.

Why are there no unwritten rules in this thread? I was expecting a BKP talk of some sort."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

I do my home teaching but don't report it unless asked. My lack of reporting is more out of laziness than it is rebellion, however the lack of reporting keeps me a bit on the "not quite big-time leadership material" side. I like my hometeachees and they are fun to visit. I also like to bake goodies and deliver them. Overall home teaching makes me feel good but I'm pharisiacal about going every month, but I make it about 75% of the time.
I once had a hometeachee that I later found out hated home teaching visits. He was/is a good friend and I think he felt uncomfortable telling me he didn't want me to visit. I wish he would have told me as I would be happy to see him in the foyer and count it each month. Heck, we golfed once a month last year together so he should just tell me to count that."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. Do people really home teach? I thought that was kind of a myth. Since ldc and I have been married we have had less than 5 home teachers come to our house.
The last one came the month after HFN Jr was born, I remember they brought him a little shirt that said "Made in the USA!" and I made some joke about the innuendo of the shirt. They never returned.Get confident, stupid

Make everyone jelly or jam for Christmas. They don't care if you come over during the year so long as they get theirbribejam."Wuap's "problem" is that he is smart & principled & committed to a moral course of action. His actions are supposed to reflect his ethical code.
