      Very sad indeed.
      Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Wow, what a tragedy. I have sung in that tabernacle's choir seats more than once. Hard to believe that building may disappear from that corner.
Have we been commanded not to call a prophet an insular racist? Link?

As an alum of the J Roob, I graduated in that building. I remember being very excited to hold our exercises there, as opposed to an on campus building, because the ProTab had character and distinction. I think it was the coolest building in Provo.

My family of NoMos attended my law grad and were very impressed by the building as well. That it was on a National Registry of Historic Buildings speaks to the esteem in which the ProTab was held.

I really hope this turns out to be an electrical fire because arson will make my head spin.

In an cruel twist, Los Hermanos still stands, mere yards away from the ProTab remains. There is no justice.

One by one the truly architecturally beautiful LDS buildings are going away. Very sad. I had stake conference many times in that building and it was very beautiful and unique.

We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

That's horrible. We used to have stake conference there in my last stake. Extremely uncomfortable, but that building's an icon.

This is a sad day for Provo, Utah County, and anyone who ever admired the beauty of the Provo Tabernacle.

If they do have to demolish it and then they don't rebuild it with a replica, we will all know that the church has sold its soul to the bottom line. That would be just as sad, if not more, as losing the building in the first place

Knock it off. This board has enough problems without a dose of middle-age lechery.

Wife and I are absolutely sick about this. What a tremendous loss.

Very sad. I attended several stake conferences there, where President Harold Jones ("When you hear the crash, think of Jones Paint and Glass!), repeatedly admonished us to cut up our credit cards. Great building; I'm hopeful it can be rebuilt.

                            Whoops...sick feeling in my stomach...

BYU crews were filming a concert inside the tabernacle Thursday night. One witness says she smelled something like a hot glue gun. "We just thought, OK maybe it's just TV crews and lights," she said. Again, authorities have not determined a cause of the fire.
