  • People that will never work on sunday in any job

Does anyone know of those type of people. I have had people ask us about Steve Young playing on Sunday. In recent years Eli Herring is the only person I knew that turned down a pro job because of Sunday play. Other LDS athletes honored there contract to play on Sunday though they ususally didn't do things other than the game and did not like to play on Sunday.

Jobs in entertainment are if you work on Sunday more good I guess. Retail people are asked not to shop on sunday however many do because LDS people shop on sunday.

Brings me to another point, I was discussing Sunday work with last companion and brought up police officer or doctor said he would not work on Sunday in those jobs. So someone needs surgery only one available who would do it. NONLDS people do not need to fill all those jobs.

Dallin talked of working Sundays at radio station, so some communication is necessary. Ga's fly home from conference on Sundays. When I mentioned Milking cows on Sunday he said is ox in mire. I heard of SDA's and Orthodox jews in 24 hour occupations who would not work on Saturday.

However some jobs require Sunday work that LDS need to do too. Some say would work but not get paid. Anyone know any LDS people that would not work on Sunday in 24 hour jobs?

Interesting Our SP told us to dress up on Sunday. Not in shorts, sweats and Levi's I guess. Said some of you have chores you have to do on Sunday but as soon as you get done dress better than chore clothes. Someone after asked him do we have to stay in church clothes all day. His answer no just a little better than grubs.

Hospitals, Law enforcement, Paremedics, Firefighters, Airline pilots, In cases of Bus Drivers and taxis to get people to church, Some agriculture jobs such as Milking, feeding and changing water, Some communication jobs of necessity have to be done on Sunday. Anyone that won't work on sunday in those type of jobs?

My father was a Bishop and Stake President when I was a kid. He worked in the entertainment industry (Television). Because of deadlines (the TV show had to be ready by a certain day), he worked 1-3 Sundays per year.

I have met a few people in my life who have refused to take a job that required any Sunday Work.

I think it is normal for most LDS people to try to avoid jobs that are required to work every single Sunday, but will work an occassional Sunday, if required.

I took my job under the pretense that it was a 10 hrs/day for 4 days/wk job for 6 months of the year and 6 days/wk the other 6 months of the year. Due to scheduling conflicts and a change in constructability and procedures I now work 5-6 days/wk for 8 months of the year and 7 days/wk for the remaining 4 months. It is not what I signed up for but I need this job, I am young in my career and love what I am doing. I do not anticipate changing my scheduling for the duration of this job.
