    Spiritual Crocodiles

Do people remember this video? My seminary kids last year wanted to see it over and over. They would laugh themselves to tears crying out "look out little Wilde-beast!" I never really got why they thought it was so funny.

Of course I remember it -- that thing is a classic.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

I remember it well. However, it pales in comparison to The Phone Call.

No. It was more like a short movie featuring a guy who I am pretty sure Napoleon Dynamite was based on. It was pretty funny.

The phone call was filmed at Ripples, out Edgemont way. I've eaten at ripples plenty of times. It isn't good, btw

I've never seen that, but now that I've just wasted six minutes and fifty seconds of my life watching it I feel obligated to wast some more time and share a couple thoughts.

1- His analogy seems flawed. The crocodiles wait in the water for their prey. Water is necessary to sustain and restore life, even Christ recognized that. Are we to believe that such a basic need is a temptation? Is this what they're talking about in conference when we're encouraged to drink deeply from the well of spiritual water? Not so sure I'm interested if there are spiritual crocodiles lurking just beneath the surface.

2- You can tell the film was shot by a Utah Mormon. All of the spiritual crocodiles involve partying and drinking beer, which, as we know are the greatest of all sins. Plus, the bad kids were all F-dudes. I guess we can and should judge books by their covers.

ps- Dan, your students are all sadistic punks to laugh at that little wildebeast.

I think we watched The Phone Call once a year for FHE in one singles ward.

Pellegrino we really need to find the off switch for your powers of reason. They are very off putting.

I don't know how anybody could watch that video and somehow deduce that water was supposed to take on biblical meanings in the crocodile analogy.

Hardly falls under the category of "powerful reasoning," IMO.

I'm pretty sure we're supposed to see water in the Indian cinema sense. Which makes the crocodiles some sort of vagina dentata.
