I guess I was hasty. I actually thought I was agreeing with you. "The" was shorthand for "the generally accepted teaching." It does seem to me to be a pretty generally understood teaching/doctrine/belief of our faith that all of God's children will at some point before final judgment be given an opportunity to accept the gospel of faith and repentance plus the saving ordinances, and that those who do accept all that and endure to the end, etc., will be "welded" (using JS's term) together. No effort to be absolutist! Just painting quickly with a broad brush. Make sense?Originally posted by Sleeping in EQ View PostYou have completely misunderstood my distinction.
I'm noting (again) your absolutist use of the word "the" (as in "the teaching").Last edited by LA Ute; 11-04-2010, 11:38 AM.“There is a great deal of difference in believing something still, and believing it again.”

Let me also say in response to the title question: I sincerely hope they are.Originally posted by clackamascoug View PostThread Conclusion

I have always thought that if there is such a thing as eternal families and eternal marriage that the "eternal family" would really mainly be husband and wife. It wouldn't be Mom, Dad, and little kids because the kids would be grown up and have their own spouses.
I think it's good advice not just for the hypothetical "next life" but for this life as well that the relationship with your spouse should take precedence over relationship with kids. People who adore their kids but hate their spouse are going to be miserable now and (if the Mormons are right about the forever family thing) for the rest of eternity.

More like husband and 10 wives, since fewer men will make it to the CK.Originally posted by CardiacCoug View PostI have always thought that if there is such a thing as eternal families and eternal marriage that the "eternal family" would really mainly be husband and wife. That which may be asserted without evidence may be dismissed without evidence. -C. Knock it off. This board has enough problems without a dose of middle-age lechery.
