I had a singles ward bishop in a temple recommend interview ask how frequently I pay my tithing. When I told him I pay quarterly, he berated me for this choice and told me it was preferable to pay with every increase.

If he wanted to bring this up at the end of the interview, it might have been fine. I found it annoying. The question is, "Do you pay a full tithe?" not "How frequently do you pay a full tithe?" He was kind of a jerk about it, too.

I pay once a year at tax time. It takes more faith to write one big check than it does to write 12 or 26 smaller checks. It's certainly the more righteous way to do it.

I have a special savings account where my tithing is automatically paid into. I pay it when I remember. One year, I waited until the end of the year and paid in one lump sum, which netted me a whole $50 or something in interest. I tend to pay more frequently now than I used to, since I pay by online banking directly to SLC.

That's not a bad idea. I have a buddy who only pays his tithing in cash. He got burned several years ago by a counselor who forgot his tithing envelope and check in his suit coat for a week or two and then put it in. My buddy thought it had long cleared and ended up bouncing. Since then he only pays in cash.

I've always wondered why the checks take so long to post. My tithing check usually takes about 5 days if not more.

How do you do that? I've been wishing I could pay online forever

As a financial clerk, I've noticed the same personality types pay in the same patterns. Annoying people who expect perfection out of everyone else pay every single week. Professionals with with large regular paychecks pay after payday. Self employed people pay sporadicly but with much larger amounts. Retired Wealthy, donate stock outside of the local unit, but declare in full. Low income people pay tithing for a couple of months after they've received financial assistance. Unmarried young adults pay next to nothing.

                  Just my observations.

When my father was on active duty that is how he paid his tithing

I may be small, but I'm slow.

A veteran - whether active duty, retired, or national guard or reserve is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to, "The United States of America ", for an amount of "up to and including my life - it's an honor."
