    The pre-marital sex conundrum

Here is the conundrum: a leading purpose of the no premarital sex rule has been to avoid pregnancy and hence compelled marriages. On the other hand, the sex drive is relentless, and, anomalously, we have evolved such that we develop capacity to procreate at least a dozen years before we are optimally prepared for parenthood in terms of ability to provide physical security and enhance emotional and intellectual development of children. Just like Leviticus' admonishing to eat creatures living in the water of the seas and the streams only if they have fins and scales, the commandment to abhor pre-marital sex was wise when first given--and has been obviated by science, if we are learned enough to deploy science on our behalf (i.e., refrigerators and planned parenthood). Personally, if I had to choose, I'd rather a son or daughter experiment responsibly with premarital sex than marry at age 20. What is the solution? Don't ask don't tell?
When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.

So you don't want your kids married at 20. At what age do you advise your daughters to start sleeping around?

Damn you. When I saw you were the first to respond I knew it would be something disrespectful like this. You and Katie Lied are conspiring against me. Let it be!

I'm not sure what the official Church policy is, but it has been my experience that for LDS women over the age of 30, the law of chastity doesn't apply so much.

I don't care where my underage daughters sleep or if they experiment. Just please don't tell me they are taking their husbands' last name!

Wow. junkie in the Forum. A small miracle. Someone give me a little credit for that, will you?
