The 10 best places to raise an LDS family outside of Utah

I"m pretty sure State College shot to #1 when I left the place.

It is a great place to raise kids, LDS or not.

It's a terrible place for a single LDS to go to college, though.

The problem with those rankings is that there's a diversity of belief concerning what makes a good LDS family environment, and what doesn't.

I don't think I'd particularly care to raise my Mormon family in any of the places on that list, nor would my wife.

The worst thing about those places is that you could easily end-up living 15-20 minutes from the Church. Things like mutual, early morning seminary, and holding any significant callings (that require extra time at church) become a major pain in the butt...

My wife and I REALLY liked DFW. Lots of LDS churches - and lots of Mormons - in several different areas of the Metroplex. My kids' elementary school was ~10% LDS.

They never had a class where they were the only LDS kid. There was always at least one other. There weren't as many high school kids/YMYW as there were elementary/primary kids, but between our ward and another two that sent kids to the HS, there were about 70 LDS kids at the HS - and those numbers would only increase as the younger kids got older and started going to the HS.

We were in the Fossil Ridge area of Ft Worth, and similar areas with strong concentrations of LDS folks existed in Grapevine/Colleyville/Southlake, Flower Mound, Plano, McKinney, etc.

I'd move back to the Metroplex in a HEARTBEAT...

I would assume that. The exact opposite of that assumption was our biggest fear when we decided to move to Utah. So far, so good...

That's a nice area. I went to a baby blessing there a few years back and the building was swarming with people.

Our ward had 60%-70% attendance and split twice in 10 years.
