The criticism from the GA's seem so one sided as men get reminded constantly about what they do wrong, while women get told how great they are. I don't know about the rest of you, but this rubs me the wrong way.
Why do Church leaders chastise men, but praise women?

Ha ha... I noticed this goes down to the grass roots level as well. On Mother's Day the women get showered with praise, get flowers, and the kids sing to them. On Father's Day, the bishop got up and went off on a 5 minute jag on how home teaching needed to be made a priority and how everyone was shirking their responsibilities.
It reminds me of that Chris Rock routine about how everyone loves mama, but daddy don't get sh*t."I'm anti, can't no government handle a commando / Your man don't want it, Trump's a bitch! I'll make his whole brand go under,"

they only praise women as it pertains to certain roles, i.e. mother, homemaker, nurturer. beyond that there is no discussion of what women are or what they can be.Dio perdona tante cose per un’opera di misericordia

It stems from institutional guilt at the marginalization and subordination of women.Originally posted by pellegrino View Postthey only praise women as it pertains to certain roles, i.e. mother, homemaker, nurturer. beyond that there is no discussion of what women are or what they can be.

It may be the same thing, but I think sometimes there is so much of a desire to show that we do not in fact subordinate women that some feel the need to overly praise them.Originally posted by Solon View PostIt stems from institutional guilt at the marginalization and subordination of women.

"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf
