  • Anyone listen to Richard Oslters listen learn and love?

Became an ally of lbgtq people while serving as ysa bishop. Wrote three books on the subject, and interviews gays, transgenders and parents of those people. Goes by papa ostler on twitter. Is it love or activism? Lynn G Robbins talked about reversing the first and second great commandment. Ostler said Bishops should spend more time listening.

Boyd told Lynn in that talk a Seventy represents the Lord to the people not the people to the Lord. Russell in talk on putting other Gods before people said the same thing. Of course in confession Bishops listen to sinners. But the lord asks people to listen to the leaders not the leaders to listen to the congregation. Bishops may learn what led sinners down the road. But the sinners need to heed the Bishops advice so they don’t do what they did to have to see him in the first place.

Jeff in a talk on making God after our own image said while Jesus had infinite capacity to forgive he never said it was ok to sin ever, said not to look at it. In a byu talk said shame thing and railed on commencement speaker who talked about his sexual orientation.

I don’t k ow where Jesus said hate the sin love the sinner. Part of peoples vocabulary. Joseph Fielding. mcConkie ina book said do we excommunicate sins or sinners. Of course we are to respectful of other people. But sin is still sin. We need to help people repent of sins not justify them in sin.

One of Ostlers social media posts said Jesus will ask us how we treated lbgtq people before he asks us if we didn’t treat coffee and tea. First Jesus does not need to ask us anything he already knows. We should treat everyone kindly regardless of how they behave.

Gordon said some pretty harsh things about those trying to legalize same gender marriage and those living in those situations. However he said our position does not justify being unkind to them. We were told to be civil to those we disagree with.

    M. Russ said Dale prophets were those that advocated champion of so called same gender marriage and later talk said not to listen to those that have not been called.

He does quote M. Russ who talked of how to deal with lbgtq people in a byu devotional. We need to be very sympathetic to people who have those challenges. Helping them repent one thing, advocating sins is another. Dallin talked about alcoholis, anger and other things, Need to overcome temptation.

Books said God made us that way that is who we are. And will be that way in next life too. Whatever conditions of the fall won’t be with us in the next life. There are people that have same gender attraction and gender dysphoria and if they can’t overcome it can not yield to temptation.

Heterosexual immorality are there people defending that? God made me a fornicator or adulterer and I love that person so it’s not wrong what we did? God made me an alcoholic I need to act on it? A temper is part of me. The Lord cannot look upon sins with the least degree of allowance. Wants us to repent of sins.

Some people with same gender attraction do have biological children. And those that live in same gender marriages have a high divorce rate. Wonder if he is advocating justifying people living in those sins and that is his favorite sin to justify.

Had previous vital post on not judging non garment wearers, people do g thins on Sunday and the like.. Is well meaning and compassionate, but I wonder if he is encouraging people to go off covenant t path or keep them from repenting, and saying God told us to get gender realignment surgery or leave church if they can’t support same gender marriage people. We can respect people be kind and stay in church. Put first commandment first.

That might not be the reason he asks certain questions. God knows everything but still wants to talk with us.

Oaks comparing being gay to being addicted to drugs. Classic oaks.

God is not going to ask us about coffee or tea. Can you imagine?
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.
