No conference thread for 2024 yet? Also, does Utah by five still exist?

Confession(s): So, despite meditating on the regular for an hour plus every day for years (gotta cope with that chronic pain from the palsy ????), my attention span for most things tops out at about an hour, and then I literally have to do anything else.

And ad For conference, I've always done so much better reading the talks later on as I've never been an auditory learner. But, like with a lot of other things in my life, the conference talks stack and form a backlog. That I may or may not get to either in their entirety, or sometimes at all.

That said, what have y'all's Impressions been from conference so far? Admittedly, I just tuned in about an hour ago and caught the tail end of a talk talking about trials and tribulations and Job. Credit where it's due, I am no Job (or even Gob), and perhaps if I were a better man, I would gain more comfort from his example and talks that reference it. Instead? Today I was like in my internal monologue " that's right, job, we're #teammasochists!!"

But, like with many things in my life, for better or worse I think God understands my personality and we'll see where things stack up In the end????????????

P.S. while I assume I'm not alone in my slackage on conference, I do want to ask, do you guys do better watching or reading? And assuming it exists for you, how big is your conference backlog?????

Holy crap, we are singing Amazing Grace in Conference.
      Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Holland really went after the jokes today, eh? That will be an interesting talk into to read in the future.

Why is that worthy of a holy crap? (I’m genuinely curious)

In addition to the expected use of “think celestial” and “covenant path”, a couple of other concepts seemed to be emphasized or referenced in multiple talks today:
            • confidence - as in the confidence that comes through the spirit, confidence from making and keeping covenants
            • divine/eternal/true identity

Because it's not in the hymn book, the fifth standard work. Also, I'm not sure we believe in grace.

Nephi did. "...for we know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do." 2 Ne 25:23. I always remember that scripture because the first German translation read "in spite of all we can do."

McClellan wrote an article about that passage discussing what "after all we can do" meant when the Book of Mormon was first translated as well as how it has been interpreted in the Church since.

The conference center looks pretty full. I thought they were limiting capacity still.

Someone needs to train the speakers to button their coats when they give talks
