1 Kings 12:10. Am I wrong, or is Rehoboam being told to say that his pinky finger was bigger than his dad's junk?

We read this is class today, and I can't think of any other reason for this to be in there. The youth were doing what youth did/do; talking smack, one-upping each other, and saying, "if you think my dad was tough, my pinky's bigger than his euphemism."
"Wuap's "problem" is that he is smart & principled & committed to a moral course of action. His actions are supposed to reflect his ethical code.

I think it is pretty much universally viewed as a euphemism. In addition, commentators point out the underlying Hebrew rhymes. So it is possible it was a common dirty rhyme (something like the "man from nantucket?").

To me this humanizes the scriptures. I feel a connection to 3000 years ago that I couldn't feel otherwise.

What kind of connection? Sublimated gay urges?

The kind of connection wherein I see part of myself in my youth in the comments. I could've made that statement in my youth, trying to sound tough in front of my friends.

The funny thing is that I'd love to have him teach my kids Sunday school class. That would make the Sunday dinner conversation more interesting.

I miss my Sunday School calling. I don't want to be in the EQP.

That scripture shrinks in comparison to Ezekiel 23:20, which compares the idolotrous Jerusalem to a prostitute saying, "She dotes upon their paramours, whose flesh is as the flesh of asses, and whose issue is like the issue of horses.".

That is to say, he is hung like a donkey and 'arrives' like a horse.

My freshman year at BYU our hall at DT (honors hall) got into a war of words/posters with the hall across the courtyard. Among other things one my friends put. He put that verse in his window and IIRC he got in some serious trouble.
