I assume that someone turned the dabrockster signal on?

Hey, he wakes up everyday and stares at that pumpkin. It motivates him!

      • I learned that missionaries are supposed to stay for the entire Ward council meeting and that gospel essentials class needs to meet in the larger room and have larger attendance than gospel doctrine so as to give a good appearance to investigators.

Intially this just doesn't seem right to me. It is like a marketing ploy. Fake it until you get them in kind of thing.

However, after further consideration I realize God's children aren't perfect. Maybe God himself would condone marketing ploys to bring people to his true church. Being imperfect they just couldn't come into the fold based on their common sense or their understanding of science.

Sadly I think God's children currently are running low on faith on relying more on man.

The concern is more that the gospel essentials class is historically in some obscure room with only a half dozen members attending. I guess by moving them to the nicer, bigger room (RS room) more people will attend and more people will get baptized

Gospel doctrine will be moved to the gym, which I'm sure will work lovely. I'm guessing my bishop is going to strike down this directive from the stake.

From the stake?? Why is the stake butting in? They have no authority to do that.

They should just have everyone in gospel essentials and go over these essays showing up in the other thread.

Stake Sunday School Pres must be the easiest job there is. How do I apply for that job?

The Stake President has no authority to suggest they hold Gospel Essentialls in the RS room?

My stake has the authority to do whatever it wants. When something is stated in the CHOI that backs their plans, that is their rationale. When the stake wants to do something different, the CHOI is merely referential. The way it was explained to me is that investigators and new members need the comfort of the RS room for gospel essentials while long-time members can handle the dungeon of the gym for gospel doctrine. It's been that way in my ward building over multiple wards for 20+ years. "It is known". About time H-town caught up with the Big D on this.

Gotcha, he didn't say that in his intial post.

If the Church would take half the time and money that was spent on recruiting new members and stalking apostates and give that to the wards to spend on active members, there would be a greater increase of the former and less of the latter. Retention seems to be the Achilles heal of mormon leadership.

If you tire of being close to two airports and downtown...and your excellent school district, you can always move back. They have broken ground on a new ward chapel that is more convenient to your old neighborhood. On Stacy road across from the Sonic. Will be different attending church in a new building. As you probably know, the area has grown from 2 wards to 8 wards plus a YSA branch in my time here. Endured four ward changes but have always stayed in the same original building in the area...until doors are opened on the new building. But one thing will be certain, gospel doctrine will be held in the gym in the new building even though there will be a total of four people, including the teachers, attending gospel essentials in the RS room.
