When did each of the two videos debut? I can understand the desire to re-film something after one video has been in the rotation for years, but why keep the old one even after filming a second version? If the second one was made to replace the first one, why continue showing the first one?

So people don't have to think that any one little thing that is in one video is necessarily doctrine.Originally posted by Tim View PostWhen did each of the two videos debut? Dude, don't even propose removing the one tiny shred of variety that having two temple videos endows.Originally posted by Tim View PostWhen did each of the two videos debut? I imagine it has some fairly prosaic reason, like the brethren sitting around saying, "I fell asleep during a session today."Originally posted by Tim View PostI'm just trying to understand the history here.

Or perhaps it's more like the lack of creative thought out of Hollywood such as a remake of the Karate Kid.Originally posted by Mrs. Funk View PostI imagine it has some fairly prosaic reason, like the brethren sitting around saying, "I fell asleep during a session today."

Hey, I'd welcome even Kung Fu to the temple ceremony. Anything to wake me up. The fact the ceremony involves even MORE sitting than when I first went through kills me.Originally posted by il Padrino Ute View PostOr perhaps it's more like the lack of creative thought out of Hollywood such as a remake of the Karate Kid."You know, I was looking at your shirt and your scarf and I was thinking that if you had leaned over, I could have seen everything." ~Trial Ad Judge

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

Because its the only shred of suspense in the room trying to figure out which Eve will appear.Originally posted by Tim View PostWhen did each of the two videos debut? Spoiler for Not sure if this is totally appropriate...:...but next time you are watching the brunette Eve, watch her eyes when she finds out they are naked."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

According to what I read from David Buerger's history of the temple ceremony, the two current videos debuted in 1988 and 1990. I believe the most recent one was made to reflect the latest changes to the ceremony itself. I think the 1988 one was meant to be phased out but since a lot of viewers apparently preferred it, it was edited to match the newer one in length and the two are now just used alternately in most temples just to provide some variety.Originally posted by Tim View PostWhen did each of the two videos debut? I recommend Buerger's The Mysteries of Godliness: A History of Mormon Temple Worship for more info.Kids in general these days seem more socially retarded...
None of them date. They hang out. They text. They sit in the same car or room and don't say a word...they text. Then, they go home and whack off to internet porn.
I think that's the sad truth about why these kids are retards.
