    Why does God let young people die?

    I don't get it. While on my mission i gave some BS answer about why God let's bad things happen to good people. Well, I've seen too much bad happening to young, healthy, and good people.

    I'm pissed off at all th young people that are dying around me and I don't understand why God allows this to happen.

    When I was a kid, I had an ant farm. I didn't get involved in the daily lives of my ants. I didn't really even care about them, but they did entertain me.

        Why does he allow bad people to prosper?

          I've come to believe he doesn't intervene in anything at all ever. For every "miracle" there seem to be an equal number of disasterous "acts of God". Stuff just happens and God has nothing to do with any of it.

            Well, regardless of that, you're doing about the most admirable thing a person can do. I'm sure being compensated well doesn't hurt, but it takes wading through a lot of crap to be able to help people the way you do.

              I think there is more truth in this answer than most would want to admit. Who's to say that God lets (or commands) anyone to die? Deism certainly has its charms.

                The older I get, the more deist I become. I'm not sure why that is. I've told myself that if I ever leave the church I would become a deist mainly because I can't deny the existence of God but I don't always see his hand in all things. I'm not one to believe that he is with us always, guiding us in every step and every path, directing us what job to take and where to move. I think he steps in when he really has to but for the most part he lets us be. I don't know how to reconcile this with the fact that some children die at an early age.

                But I do think he loves us very much.
                "Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

                    I think the depiction of God weeping over the sins of his children in Moses is a powerful reminder that God does indeed care about us. However, in my estimation it seems much less important to Him how many years we live but rather that we live righteously and return to Him. Verse 32 in Moses chapter 7 also speaks of how it saddens Heavenly Father when we do not love our fellow man.

                    28 And it came to pass that the God of heaven looked upon the residue of the people, and he wept; and Enoch bore record of it, saying: How is it that the heavens weep, and shed forth their tears as the rain upon the mountains?
                    29 And Enoch said unto the Lord: How is it that thou canst aweep, seeing thou art holy, and from all eternity to all eternity?
                    30 And were it possible that man could number the particles of the earth, yea, millions of earths like this, it would not be a beginning to the number of thy creations; and thy curtains are stretched out still; and yet thou art there, and thy bosom is there; and also thou art just; thou art merciful and kind forever;
                    31 And thou hast taken Zion to thine own bosom, from all thy creations, from all eternity to all eternity; and naught but peace, justice, and truth is the habitation of thy throne; and mercy shall go before thy face and have no end; how is it thou canst cweep?
                    32 The Lord said unto Enoch: Behold these thy brethren; they are the workmanship of mine own hands, and I gave unto them their knowledge, in the day I created them; and in the Garden of Eden, gave I unto man his agency;
                    33 And unto thy brethren have I said, and also given commandment, that they should love one another, and that they should choose me, their Father; but behold, they are without affection, and they hate their own blood;

                    [. . .]
                    35 Behold, I am God; Man of Holiness is my name; Man of Counsel is my name; and Endless and Eternal is my name, also.
                    36 Wherefore, I can stretch forth mine hands and hold all the creations which I have made; and mine eye can pierce them also, and among all the workmanship of mine hands there has not been so great wickedness as among thy brethren.
                    37 But behold, their sins shall be upon the heads of their fathers; Satan shall be their father, and misery shall be their doom; and the whole heavens shall weep over them, even all the workmanship of mine hands; wherefore should not the heavens weep, seeing these shall suffer?
                    I can't explain why some people live longer than others, why children die, why kind good young people die too early. I wish sometimes that God could always spare us the pain of losing people we love. Ultimately, mortal suffering and death may have very little effect upon Heavenly Father, but I do not believe Him wholly an Unmoved Mover. Human sin and unkindness to each other seems to affect Him terribly greatly in the only recorded instance of God the Father weeping of which I am familiar.

                    But anyway, I'm sorry for the pain you are experiencing and I do wish you all the best. God bless.

                      Who says life is better than the alternative? That's a pretty limited view.
