so I will post this in a separate thread. (The thread about the service men and women from yesterday was great.)

In our ward, we butchered, abso-freaking-lutely butchered Battle Hymn last week. It was so slow and so lacking spirit and umph! I stopped singing it out of shame. I miss the MTC when you could speed up the hymns as fast as you wanted them and sing loudly.

At the start of Priesthood, we have our missionary moment and a guy talked about reconnecting with an old mission comp via the Facebook. He said he had a good talk with the guy who was really down and out now. He said he had prayed about having the opportunity for an experience and to give a blessing and then said twice that he gave him a blessing. He didn't make it clear if it was a priesthood blessing or what, but he said it twice.

I asked the guy beside me if there's a blessing feature or emoticon on Facebook. I guess it must be a gift you can send someone like when you pass them a beer or send flowers for their birthday.

Nothing worse than taking an up tempo hymn like Battle Hymn of the Republic too slowly -- I don't blame you for stopping.

Maybe the Church could start a knockoff version of Facebook where you could give out virtual handshakes or even virtual prayers or blessings -- that would be awesome.

That's one of my pet peeves - when they play the hymns too slow - in my old ward, they all sounded like dirges.

I'm convinced, though, that they're generally played slowly because the organist can't go any faster.

That's how our old ward was, but it was the chorister's fault. Pure torture.
