  • CUF and my HP group

CUF is much more interesting. Yesterday we were talking about the 8th article of faith and the accuracy of the Bible. They were talking about these tiny little changes and I was their thinking to myself how much more interesting it would have been to have waup, pell, Dan, LA, SU, niku, 71, creek, Jay, Scottie, Indy, etc in there. Frankly I get very bored in there listening to these old men give the same tired answers to questions I've heard a thousand times.

I'm with you. My HP group has really gone downhill in the last year or two. This new simplified manual hasn't helped things much.

Sorry I wouldn't be any good in your HP group. I only say stuff when I know I won't get my a$$ kicked later by my wife for ruining the family name.

I feel bad for HPs sometimes. They've been over the correlated material so many times that they are just dying for something other than the Gospel Principles book to peak their interest.

You should have brought up J-E-D-P and the scholarly reasons that Moses didn't write the Bible. I'm sure they would have loved that.

We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

A speakeasy quorum at the ward level would be very enjoyable.

Yep...that and Gospel Doctrine, with the new manuals are pretty drab and very high level.

It totally bugs me when the instructor leads you up to the question, fully explaining the answer as he's asking the question. It's so mind numbing that I start drifting off thinking about all sorts of things besides the lesson.

HP group is a bit better, just because a few gems are thrown out now and again to keep people awake...but, ugh.

I used to think when I was teaching (not HPG) that it was impolitic to ever say that someone's answer is wrong. I would say stuff like, "Interesting take," or "that gives us something to reflect on, I was thinking a little more like..."

Now I just say it. "Wrong." "Nope." "Maybe in your world." I've found that if you laugh when you say it no one takes offense, but it grabs the attention of the class. Just say someone's answer is wrong and everyone is off racing to give the right answer.

Now if I could just stop giggling in response to the really preposterous comments.

I woke up in Sunday School to someone talking about the exact location of Atlantis. I went back to sleep.

I think I would die laughing if a gospel teacher said that during a lesson.
