    I don't think that's what they intended.

Tommy John uses this and they really are comfortable.

      • My wife been using the new garments for a while now. They do not last. They tear and get holes really easily.

          Lol. It's so liberating though.

Your wife noticed that too? It's ridiculous how fast they wear out compared to the older ones.

Which "older ones" are we talking about? The silkies are basically the cockroaches of garments - they never die. Not really fair to compare anything to them in terms of durability.
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

              • Interesting. Cost savings is one of the reasons for the change to Temple clothes

Can't maintain that $100 billion warchest by wasting money on plastic inserts.

I didn't mind the plastic insert as it gave the cap some needed body, even a touch of jauntiness. Without it, it'll be like a bad swimming cap and I'll resemble Florence Chadwick.

But I don't mourn the loss of the cap's string. Not sure if I've mentioned this, but back in the SLC Mission Home days, after a temple session for the entire group, we gathered in the assembly room on the top floor of the temple where a couple of GAs spoke to us and responded to questions ("Anything you'd like to ask!") about the endowment ceremony. A bold young elder asked, "What's with the string?" Elder Elray Christiansen shrugged his shoulders and responded, "I don't know; maybe it's windy in heaven..." I guess the winds have died down.

                        • Seems like if you've got a current style cap, you keep the plastic insert. The only "approved" mod is removing the string.

If you want to go plasticless, buy a new cap?

                          • I'm going to start wearing a white kangol cap and see if anybody says anything.

                            I'll return and report.

                            • Dropped by the local DC with the wife to pick up some new garments, since she's lost enough weight that new clothes and underwear were a necessity.

There ain't nothin' on the shelves at Desert Book/Distribution Ctr. There's nothin' in stock online. The claim is supply line problems, which I sort of understand. On the other hand, the church has pushed and pushed the "wear them constantly" instruction, so not having a source to replace worn-out garments doesn't work for me. At what point are we justified in just doing a lil snip-snip and transferring the patterns to Hanes?
