I'm glad I have some corroboration on this point. I found some older ones in a drawer (I always buy new ones b/c I like em white out the package- so the older ones are still in new-ish shape) and they had that coveted mid-thigh fit.Originally posted by Portland Ute View PostI just recently bought some "short" mesh bottoms and they were....long. I agree with you.
Another thing is that you kind of have to go to the Dist. center regularly because they'll often pilot new fabrics and cuts for a limited time just to see how they fly. I have a couple pairs of the spandex bottoms that were a good idea but are super uncomfortable (they ride downward, provide no ventilation). I would always see these cool v-neck tops in Guatemala and was envious; I'm kicking myself that I didn't load up."I'm anti, can't no government handle a commando / Your man don't want it, Trump's a bitch! I go mesh bottoms and that silky swoop up top. Best combo by far.Originally posted by LiveCoug View PostChanging topic slightly, what is the best G material out there for humid climates?
1. The mesh bottoms do not retain funk and are super good at ventilating the merch. I discovered this on long backpacking trips when I only packed one change of undies and would do laundry in the sink. The mesh dries super fast and is easy to wash because they aren't absorbent and don't get that dirty. The fact that they are not absorbent is why they are good in humid places- they keep a buffer of air between you and your shorts which is nice.
2. The silky swoop is my personal preference because it's the equivalent of no-show socks-no lines showing, no extra bulk, and it keeps your t shirt smoothed out and down so it won't ride up on you. I only do the crew neck for collared shirts; nothing worse for your t-shirt game than a second collar sticking out like a second row of teeth, whose only function is to probably buffer your puka necklace. For humid climates, I would consider the mesh swoop because it acts just like the bottoms, providing a buffer of air between you and your tee shirt. The downfall is that it wicks sweat right into your tee shirt and mesh makes your tee shirt ride up when you're chilling on the couch or something.
In summary, I know you say you just can't do the mesh, but you need to give it a whirl. It's not that big of a risk."I'm anti, can't no government handle a commando / Your man don't want it, Trump's a bitch! I'll make his whole brand go under,"

I used to use the sport fabric spandex under armor type ones, but the construction was terrible. Cotton poly scoop neck up top. It worked but I was prone to melt when mowing the lawn.Originally posted by LiveCoug View PostYeah, mesh bottoms are weird to me. I'd like to stay away from those. I resisted for a long time. Finally tried them. They are nice in the summer with a pair of baggy shorts. Much cooler than the sport, cotton/poly or all cotton.Originally posted by LiveCoug View PostYeah, mesh bottoms are weird to me. I'd like to stay away from those. They were also lighter and packed down better for backpacking.

Not a fan of the scoop neck tops. I love the fit of the all cotton crew necks. But, you are right, they look ridiculous under another t-shirt. I only wear them under scrub tops or button up shirts.
I can't get into the scoop necks. I'll be honest, when I wear t-shirts, I quite often ditch the tops. Or I force myself into a cotton poly scoop. The silky....just feels wrong to me.

Yeah it took me a bit to get into the Gs at all to begin with. For me, I've found that less is more. I don't even feel the silky swoop to be honest- it doesn't feel like what it is (which is doubling up on the shirts), it's easy on the skin, and stays hidden unless I'm rocking a white tee, which I scarcely do.Originally posted by Portland Ute View PostI'm with you on the mesh bottoms...during the summer months.

I went all in on the silky scoops this spring and they were a God-send. Litrelly. Then came the warmer months and the silkies started to cling to my back like saran wrap. So I've added the mesh scoops for hotter times. They still stick, but not nearly as bad as the silkies. Even with the stickiness, I'd take the silkies or the mesh scoops every day over any other kind of top.Originally posted by Commando View PostYeah it took me a bit to get into the Gs at all to begin with. For crew necks, which I wear about 2x a week, I have taken to buying white undershirts that I actually like and are higher quality than the church ones. I sew my own markings into them and ignore that they have Calvin Klein screen-printed on the neck. Maybe I should try the iron-on things.Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. Many Stake Presidents view the Handbook as being more like guidelines, anyway. But if they would just RTFM, or, for that matter, take the bloody training, it's spelled out more than once.Originally posted by Portland Ute View PostI was called to be the ward financial clerk without holding a recommend.
