  • Holy Ghost testifies of God and Christ?

When Christ was on the earth,
    He promised he would send
The Holy Ghost to comfort us,
    Our true, eternal friend.
    The Holy Spirit whispers
    With a still small voice.
He testifies of God and Christ
    And makes our hearts rejoice.

Do these lyrics bother anyone else?

God IS Christ. No? If you disagree, show me an instance in the canon, even the LDS specific scriptures where the name God doesn't refer to to Christ.

It's OK to refer to Heavenly Father as God, but it just seems really really really really weird in a non-Canonical non-Christian way to refer to God AND Christ in the same sentence that way.

You realize this is a metered poem, right? Structure will come at the expense of clarity sometimes.

Look at the lyric as God and Christ being the same. I think you're forcing the dichotomy, especially since there isn't a comma. I testify of; King and Sovereign; President and Commander-in-Chief; Mac and wuap.
"Wuap's "problem" is that he is smart & principled & committed to a moral course of action. His actions are supposed to reflect his ethical code.
The rest of us rarely bother to think about our actions." --Solon

"testifies of Jesus Christ" would be a lot cleaner, if you're looking strictly at the way the notes and lyrics go together.
