  • I love my family

My brothers are everything to me. We live in different parts of the country (literally: I'm in NYC, atheistcoug is in Seattle, Doctorcoug in Illinois) and don't get to see each other much but there aren't three people who mean more to me in the world than my brothers.

    My sister is ok, too.

I'm curious: do others feel the same emotion that siblings are > than parents?

No. Not by a long shot.

Nope. If anything, my parents > my siblings, but it's close.

No, but after hearing just a little about your parents, I can see where you're coming from.
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

I definitely care more about what my siblings think of me than I ever cared about what my parents thought of me. For me I would say the two are close to equal.

Just as an iranian old saying goes " share your secret with your sister but not your mom, because your sister has the same mom as you do". Which is kinda tricky when you think about it.

I watched Persepolis the other night and thought of you.

I felt bad for the girl (the writer) who lost her identity somewhere in the Europe and tried to blame it on her fellowmen. May be her fellowmen werenot that flawless after all. Who knows?

I love my siblings. I have a brother that is my closest friend, even though I don't live anywhere near him nor do we ever agree on anything.

However, no one holds a candle to my mom and dad. They would probably fit the die-hard Mormon stereotype that most of this board holds. That being said, I've never known a more non-judgmental person than my father. He has his opinions (die-hard republican/conservative of the ETB or Glenn Beck fold) and shares them when provoked, but if Obama showed up at his doorstep you can bet they would kill the fatted lamb and serve it for dinner. My father taught me to hold to my own ideas, but to respect the ideas of others, especially if they are different than mine.
"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

My siblings are great. My parents though, as far as my realtionships go, are in a league of their own.

I love my bros (However, they probably think I am just OK ). I love my parents. My brothers are definitely more fun to hang out with, but I don't think I could choose one over the other.
What's to explain? It's a bunch of people, most of whom you've never met, who are just as likely to be homicidal maniacs as they are to be normal everyday people, with whom you share the minutiae of your everyday life. It's totally normal, and everyone would understand.
