To me, one of the most remarkable things about Christianity is that Christ lived just 2000 years ago. This is incredibly recent. My grandparents all lived to the ages of 94-98, and I often think about how just 2 of their consecutive lifetimes would extend back to the time of Joseph Smith, and 20 lifetimes would extend back to the time fo Christ. That just boggles the mind.
So here is a question: Why did God choose to send his son to Earth at that particular time? Why not later, when it would be easier to spread the message and witness the miracles? He obviously didn't have a problem letting people witness miracles 2000 years ago, so why not broadcast them on TV like David Blaine? Or why not send him earlier, so there might have had more time to evangelize the world? Why not have Jesus be a Chinese fellow instead of a Jew? And if Christ was suffering for the sins of people who live on other planets, then why was he sent to this planet?
I realize there are probably no good answers to these questions, but I do like to ponder these issues. I'm interested in theological explanations as well as other forms of speculation.
