What would have made it really cool is if they had also gone to the Chilean government and Chilean press and warned them too. 50% of Chile would convert.

It would have been cool if they would have prepared the other missionaries in Chile so that my BIL would have been prepared the same way. Unlike Wuap I hate these stories.

These people who have volunteered 3 years of their lives to live in South America away from their children and grandchildren have an experience in which they feel like there is going to be an Earthquake. They don't know there will be an earthquake for certain, yet they listen to the spirit and counsel from one of their leaders and take the opportunity to teach the importance of being prepared to the 200 19-21 year olds that they have a stewarship over, and to some they still didn't do enough.

Finding fault is always great fun.

If a religious leader came to you, as a public servant, and said, "My wife had a dream that there was going to be an earthquake," you'd be pilloried if you did anything other than issue a general reminder that earthquake preparedness is important in your area. I'm glad that the MP didn't tell the authorities. Those things never go well, and no one ever listen, save Nineveh.

Let me ask you this. I have no problem with those who find the experience faith promoting and uplifting. Why do you seem, maybe just my interpretation, so upset if someone else doesn't quite see it that way.

I think it would have been a great story about always being prepared and it's importance without the awakening in the night part. I am just that way though. When I hear those kind of stories from Baptist, Methodist, Evangelical ministers, I react the same way.

Just a curious question. Would the story have been any less of a great story without the waking up at 4 in the morning part. I am not saying it didn't happen, I think it did. My question though which is the bigger story, being awaken at 4 AM or that they got the missionaries prepared.

Should I get prepared or wait for the morning wake up call.

I'm not upset in the least. And I respect that he doesn't feel the same about it being a "neat" experience. I don't have a problem at all in that regard.

No. Revelation is revelation. The bigger story is that they were responsive enough to the Spirit to get the missionaries prepared.

Fair enough. I guess I just don't understand how this spirit thing works. These stories are cool, but then I guess I shouldn't be so cynical when I hear Pat Robertson or Jerry Falwell give one.

Maybe my lack of faith in the area is why I don't get prompted that much.

Maybe it's time to put yourself in charge of two hundred 19 to 25 year olds.
