    Dilemna.

I have been assigned as a Draper Temple security person. Should I take a concealed weapon even though I don't have a permit? You never know when some nasty anti- goes postal.

definitely. bringing a gun "just in case" is always a good idea. add to this that you don't have a permit for the gun and it makes the idea even better.

why don't you consecrate some gun oil , clean the gun with said oil and then give the old pistole' the old layin' on of the hands. I am not sure you would need to bring it after that, it would just know when it was needed.

I don't think you should be entrusted with sharp objects, much less a gun.

Although I can see your point - the Draper temple grounds can certainly be a hotbed for violent criminal activity.

Funniest post I have read today. My MIL is looking at me like I am crazy.

Can't the church assign the three nephites for these tasks? The temple dedications are often spaced out enough and I'm sure the church will work with the three nephites' busy schedule.

Does anyone else remember when the guy held hostages at gunpoint in the DC temple about 25-30 years ago? Or am I not remembering correctly?

It would have ended a lot quicker, but one of the SWAT team members had let his recommend lapse, and had to talk to his Bishop in the parking lot first. It's a good lesson for all of us.

plus, a few of the SWAT team members were asked to go downstairs and help out with baptisms. that is what happens with the Chevy Chase ward YM and YW don't confirm with phone calls the night before a temple trip.
