But I will if you keep this up. Remember, I know things . . . .

EDIT: OK, here is what you said:
I think that some historically have really cultivated being placed on a pedestal, but there really seem to be many in the current crop who are actively resisting it.
Without denying what you say ('cause I don't know whether it's true or not) I do think we need a little evidence.Last edited by LA Ute; 01-29-2010, 03:36 PM.“There is a great deal of difference in believing something still, and believing it again.”

Does this bother any of you? I guess one could argue that revelation may come in different forms, but I would have thought that "I better do it because the John Bircher won't" would be an expression of revealed light and truth...
I want a full refund on all of my past tithing.

Spencer Kimball told one interviewer before the change, "I don't know that I should be the one doing this, but if I don't, my successor [Ezra Taft Benson] won't."

I don't know. Seems pretty obvious: this was more of a choice made by a man as opposed to something from the heavens. I'm sure the heavens approved, but...Originally posted by LA Ute View PostHere's the context-free quote:

It might bother me, if I had retained a Sunbeam's view of the prophet. But the scriptures are filled with examples of prophets wavering, questioning divine direction, and looking for an "out", followed by sucking it up and doing the right thing.Originally posted by Viking View PostDoes this bother any of you? Can't do it. News of the UT one and done brought me out. I can't wait. Like I said, any self respecting Texan BYU grad will wear burnt orange but hope that the victory isn't too dominant over the poor cougars.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostHey, what happened to your resolution? I don't watch TV. I don't really do anything other than work. This is my guilty pleasure. Long two weeks in the market with Brazil down 15% in USD terms. I'm beat so I need the release valve

Like I said below, you've got to read the book before you can make a statement like that, and when you do you will see how silly your statement looks. In fact, it's only about 20 pages in the book that covers this subject.Originally posted by Viking View PostI don't know. What then, is the difference between Prophet and highly tenured church official who has become the CEO? I rather believe that the Sunbeam view of the Prophet is the reason 99% of mormons follow the prophet, don't you?Originally posted by PaloAltoCougar View PostIt might bother me, if I had retained a Sunbeam's view of the prophet. I say silly things every day. Probably every hour. I'll read the book. But you better hope you're right or I will make a mockery of you.Originally posted by LA Ute View PostLike I said below, you've got to read the book before you can make a statement like that, and when you do you will see how silly your statement looks. I follow the prophet because he is the best person to lead the church I belong to. That is a mature view, IMHO.Originally posted by Viking View PostWhat then, is the difference between Prophet and highly tenured church official who has become the CEO? I can buy into that. But that stands in oppositon of how the Church sells itself. Believe me, I'm not a "hater". I prefer to think of myself as in the loyal opposition that seeks more rationale thinking like you just offered.Originally posted by byu71 View PostI follow the prophet because he is the best person to lead the church I belong to.
