  • Crap, a Calling is Headed My Way!

Man, I'm burnt out on my ward. My last calling didn't go to well and I've been calling-less for about 2 months now, well, maybe 10 months. It depends on how you look at it.

Anyways, the 2nd Counselor is meeting with me tomorrow about a calling and my guess is something involved in teaching primary aged children. don't know how I feel about this or what I should do.

I'm all for service, but let's be reasonable.

if it's primary then embrace it and love it. That was one of the best callings I've ever had, even though I wasn't particularly thrilled about it at first.

The main problem I would have with a primary calling is that the primary president is a woman.

        You can always say no.

I just got a calling, but it's no sweat.

Stake Official-- as in referee for the stake games.

Aren't 2nd councelors usually over Sunday School? Could be a youth sunday school class? Personally I enjoyed teaching primary more than youth sunday school.

I might say no. It depends.

I think our 2nd is over both the primary and sunday school.

                Three words: I respectfully decline.

But, give them the guidelines under which you will accept a calling. Be willing to do something. Otherwise, you're nothing more than an unnecessary welfare recipient letting someone else carry your load. That's lame.

If I were going to give them guidlines, I'm not sure that there is any calling that would meet them.

                    That'll get you sweaty.

In my stake they reserve those callings for men they are worried about apostacizing.

So that it will push them over the edge?

I really could do without the calling. Especially since I don't even play basketball.

So you want to be an apostle?
"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

No, that wouldn't work for the following reasons:

1- Somebody would tell me what to do.

2- I'd have to live in or near Salt Lake.

3- I'd have to get up early a lot.

4-I'd have to prepare conference talks. Somebody might assign a topic.

5- I'd have to travel more than I like ( I like traveling, but c'mon now)

                              6- I'd have to wear a tie a lot.

7- I'd have to stay in strangers houses.

8- I'd get sleepy during long meetings.

9-I'd probably have to go to graduation ceremonies now and then.

You know what would be a good calling for me? It's kinda ironic. But I could go for the calling the 3 nephites have. They probably get up when they want to and even if they don't, I bet they never get tired even during snoozer meetings. Also, they're covert. Nobody knows what they're up to. They just roam around doing good and pulling pioneers out of ditches and stuff.

Maybe I should become a tarrier. Just roam around doing good like the white chinese dude in Kung Fu, just with less hitting.
