There are three people I work with that claim they have seen spirits. Two are former LDS that no longer attend church of any denomination, and I'm not sure what third person's religion is, but he's not LDS. All three saw the spirits while they were awake. I'm interested if anyone here has had a similar experience. I'm still developing my beliefs of what happens after we die.

I haven't, but my wife has on two different occasions, both at the mortuary. The first time she was with our oldest son who was about 18 months at the time. She was in the office talking with me and our son was in the foyer near the office door. He turned and looked at us, while pointing and saying "Look! Look!"
My wife walked over to see what he was pointing at and she asked who the woman was on the far side of the foyer. I walked over to see and I saw nothing. My wife asked me "Don't you see her? She's right there?" I didn't see anyone. My wife told me the woman was wearing a very bright, white, flowing gown and was about 3 feet above the ground. My wife was getting frustrated with me because I saw nothing, but took comfort in the fact that our son could see her. He kept saying hi to this woman and then my boy said "bye-bye" and my wife said she just sort of faded away out of sight.
The 2nd time, I was embalming a gentleman who had passed away. My wife came into the room to talk to me about something and saw him on the prep table and told me that she had just seen this gentleman sitting in the chapel at the mortuary. He was wearing a flannel shirt, overalls and boots, which were the items of clothing that he had been wearing when he passed away. I had removed the clothing and put them in a belongings bag to give to the family. I showed my wife the clothes and she said that that was what he had been wearing when she saw him only minutes earlier.
As I said, I've never seen a spirit or ghost or whatever you want to call it, but there have been a number of times when I was embalming that I had the feeling that I wasn't in the prep room alone, though I saw nobody else in there with me."Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance and the gospel of envy; its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." - Winston Churchill

Do you know if the spirits were trying to convey a message, or was it more of just staying with their body? One of the guys at work saw his cousin that had died two days before. He said his wife also saw him. He said the spirit went to the closet and acted like he was packing up his stuff. He and his wife did some kind of blessing to command the spirit to leave and it did. He said it was really scary.Originally posted by il Padrino Ute View PostI haven't, but my wife has on two different occasions, both at the mortuary. My little sister has seen a ghost in an old house (1880s) my uncle owns.
My sister and two of her friends had just graduated from high school and were at the house waiting for their friend Lisa to join them to go get some lunch. They saw who they thought was Lisa in the 2nd-story window and waved & yelled for her to hurry down. Just then, Lisa walked around from the side of the house and asked who they were yelling at. The other three girls freaked out and called me (I was next door). I went through the house and nobody was there.
Three or four other people have seen it over the years, but my sister didn't know about their stories.
I've never seen one myself, and don't know what to believe. I do, however, absolutely know that my sister was telling me what she thought to be the truth (as well as the other two girls that were with her)."More crazy people to Provo go than to any other town in the state."

I never have but I'd like to. It would lend more credence (in my mind) to the possibility of the existence of all things spiritual. When I was a little kid (probably around 8) first struggling with agnosticism and doubt I remember praying that I would see SOMETHING even if it was a ghost that would let me know that there was something out there to believe in.
I was scared to ask for something so creepy but desperate to reconcile what my parents had told me with my own doubt.
Turns out I had nothing to worry about. I've never experienced anything ghostly.

I don't know if these spirits were conveying any sort of message. My wife just said that both times the spirit acknowledged her presence without saying a word. Neither time was scary for her - she said it was just like seeing a live person.Originally posted by BlueHair View PostDo you know if the spirits were trying to convey a message, or was it more of just staying with their body? When I was 8 I woke up in the middle of the night and saw a person, dressed just like the Angel Moroni, floating above the ground in the door frame to my room, about 10 or 15 feet from me. He didn't speak to me or do anything. I was instantly petrified and closed my eyes in fear, praying for it to go away. Everything began to spin and twist and I was totally freaked out. When I came to he was gone. I have no idea if I was dreaming or not, or if it was an overactive imagination, but it still creeps me out to think about.

I used to date a widow, who told me she could frequently feel the presence of her dead husband in the room. Not sure if she saw him, but she was absolutely convinced he was there. To this day my son wont take a shower in our bedroom. One day he was taking a shower and screamed. I ran in and he was crying. He said he turned around and there was a small boy standing there . I freaked because the night before, I was sitting in my office and I heard my son run down the hallway. I got up to tell him to go to bed, and he and everyone else in the house were asleep. My wife says she frequently heard childrens voices with no one there.
