    Bishop's storehouse assignment

The youth of our ward worked the Saturday assignment at the bishop's storehouse in our area. It was very, very busy. It was the second busiest day at that storehouse, ever. Yes, it's the week before Thanksgiving, but i think it's also a reflection of the economy.

While busily restocking shelves all day, it was great to watch the youth serve the patrons - never with any preconceptions or judgment. And I appreciated a full day of service in church, which required a lot of physical labor, and wasn't helping someone move. It was cathartic. I could use more of it.

The Bishop's Storehouse is simply a fun place to serve, for adults or kids, but it always impresses me how kids take to it once they understand what they are doing. That alone is fun to watch.

if nothing else, service in the bishop's storehouse is a great way to help people realize how many of those around them are struggling, even though they drive an expensive suv and have a nice house.
