Faith served as a mini-missionary out in NYC. That would have been around 1990. It was a two-week mission.

There are a couple of YM in my ward, while attending every Sunday, never attend YMs activities. Not one of them; not on Weds, not the summer activity, none. But every summer they go to EFY. "You would not believe all the hot LDS chicks from all over the world", they tell me.Originally posted by smokymountainrain View PostThanks a lot. Now I can add that to my long list of life's regrets.

I had two with me over my 2 years. One served for 2 weeks with my comp and I.
The 2nd one was actually my younger brother. He was a few months away from reporting to the MTC for his mission to Colorado Denver South, and had taken his endowments out already. My companion had to fly back home for a court appearance. My President asked if I knew of anyone in the ward that wanted to serve, I didn't but mentioned by brother and he called my folks. My folks bought the plane ticket and my brother served with me for about 3 weeks. It was great.
Probably one of the best memories I have with my younger brother in my life.

They didn't do these in St. George, where I grew up. However, I did go on splits with the missionaries about 2-3 times a month. I was even on splits during game 6 of the 1998 NBA finals. I got done just in time for the last two minutes of the 4th quarter. There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

So does anyone know if these are still going on? Sounds like they were widespread back in the day.Do any CUFers with HS age sons have any recent experience with sending a son on a mini-mission? I have been in the YM for awhile now and I haven' even heard mention of it. I think I will investigate this weekend and report.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

He was backing out of his driveway in his truck about 2 month before his mission. Some old lady doing 50 in a residential creamed him.Originally posted by Tim View PostUh...
Since he wasn't at fault they let him leave on his mission. It was 18 months into his mission before the court case came about.
His folks cleaned up pretty good on that one. It actually delayed his mission by 6 months because of injury.
He came back with a goatee and a guitar.

I liked the first two week mission so much, I went on another one the next year. Both of them were in Orange, and we got some great pictures outside of "Ex-Mormons For Jesus." I don't recall teaching more than one discussion on both two week missions, but that area had some seriously hot girls who I later got to date and roll... so it wasn't an entirely wasted time.

A good bet
Like every other program or practice the Church has nixed, I'd reckon it has everything to do with insurance liability."Wuap's "problem" is that he is smart & principled & committed to a moral course of action. His actions are supposed to reflect his ethical code.
The rest of us rarely bother to think about our actions." --Solon
