This is great news! I've always thought it should be this way.

I guess Supergabers can't call it entrapment any more. I shouldn't be so cynical, but I chuckle a little when I think about how much though, discussion, probably debate and almost certainly prayer goes into a decision like this. It has to move through a number of levels, a lot of important people have to give their input, etc, etc. I imagine that announcing it over the pulpit as opposed to in a letter to bishops means that no small importance has been assigned to it. Weighty, weighty matters.

I actually thought the same things and it made me chuckle just a bit imagining the meetings that took place just to change the name. Weighty matters indeed!

I can't wait for the first person to mistakenly say Enrichment only to be publicly corrected by one of the more righteous sisters who was in attendance last night and hear the announcement firsthand. Discretion takes a back seat to proving one's righteousness in these matters.

Damn, I had a hay day referring to it as "The meeting formerly known as Homemaking." I got laughs from everyone, even my SP on that one. To refer to it now as "The meeting formerly known as Home Family and Personal Enrichment." is just too wordy. Looks like the the party's over.

Already happened. Because I knew I was going to be up late for the football game, I did the RS bulletin on Saturday morning before the Broadcast. And I used the HF&P Enrichment phrase. I was corrected often and publicly for my mistake, and asked why I hadn't attended the broadcast. I responded to the queries like I respond to every question about my whereabouts in the fall: I tell them quite loudly I have BYU season tickets. Then I growl softly deep in my throat and stare them down.

I find that women are quite understanding about missing church related minutiae if you use the "season tickets" excuse. Missing a meeting is not quite the crime that wasting the price of a ticket is. Quelle horreur.
