I'd take Texas Road House over Outback any day of the week.

Can we claim ignorance by profession? Everybody knows that only lawyers and landpoke types really go out to eat steak often.

I'll be raked over the coals and laughed at for this I'm sure, but Outback isn't bad at all IMO. I really like their Caesar salad.

Does this take into account all steakhouse chains like Ruth's Chris or Morton's? Because if that is the case, then that #1 ranking is a joke. But if this is for casual low fare dining, it's up there. Especially when comparing it to the Sizzler's of the world.

Zagat is simply a national collection of user submitted reviews. So given the national popularity of Outback, and given the criteria (steak chain), the better question is: can we name any other national steak chains?

          Outback
          Sizzler
          Red Lobster
          Ruth's Chris
          others?

There aren't that many that appear all over the country.

So of all the national steak chains, Outback probably is the best. Ruth's is better, I think.

There is no way that Zagat users would vote Outback as the best steak house, which is entirely different.

Im not sure how many there are, they may be a west coast chain, but IMO Tahoe Joe's > Outback. I dont really care for Outback.

Edit> Neverimind, they are a California chain only.

Ruth's Chris is a better restaurant, but dollar for dollar I probably like Outback a little more.

What about Logan's Roadhouse? We have one here in town and think they are good. About on par with Outback.

I ate at Texas Roadhouse in AF last night. Just opened on Monday, I have been there before but I would take that over Outback anyday.

I've been to Outback only once and my steak was incredibly fatty throughout. And considering that I ordered it well done, that's really saying something. I was unimpressed.

I don't mind Outback. I always get the same thing. Outback special, medium well with fries and a salad with ranch. Okay for 13 bucks.

However,,,,it's not in the pantheon of great steakhouses, not by a long shot.

Texas Roadhouse is the only place I ever get chicken fingers...for some reason they're REALLY good there. Their chili is also really good.

The national chain thing is the only thing that gives this ANY merit. But as someone else said, how many true national chain steakhouses are there? If you're competing with Sizzler and th like, then yes, Outback is the best. But I could name a dozen regional chains that are better. And tons of indepentent steakhouses that are even better than those.

The sides at Texas Roadhouse suck. They're tiny and bland.

                          The ribs are okay, though.

The steaks aren't bad at Outback but what I really like there is the clam chowder soap. My favorite at Roadhouse are the rolls. I think you get the most for the least there.

There are a lot of things I don't want my hands to smell like, but clam chowder has to be near the top of the list.
