whoops, I didn't mean to imply clutter. it is easier to find your grilling/smoking posts if they are in one awesome thread. I definitely go for repeat viewings and Im pretty sure I am not the only one. sorry.

No need to apologize. I didnt think you implied clutter, just the choice of word I used. I think your suggestion is spot on. Maybe a mod can merge them all in this thread http://www.cougaruteforum.com/showthread.php?t=6924

I could see people getting a little tired of these posts if I post every single thing I grilled/smoked, etc... It does seem I am a bit of a one trick pony. I am sure that as the novelty of the BGE wears off, I will post less food porn, but until then, everyone will have to suffer through them.

You stop apologizing and keep posting. I love this stuff.

Yeah I checked that out first, but they only sell it in bulk. I found a few other places but most of them want $9 for shipping. Just curious if you bought it online. Thanks.

                That looks very tasty.

I may be small, but I'm slow.

Looks like most places online are $9-$11 shipping. So unless you buy bulk, or multiple rubs, etc...shipping kills it.

On the John Henry's website, under any of the product headings, there is a pdf order form that you can print and fax in. It has the smaller size quantities of all their rubs.

Growing up in East Texas, John Henry has wonderful memories of summer picnics, county fairs and great barbeque. So East Texas flavor is what he had in mind when he created his award winning barbeque sauces, spices and rubs. His strive for perfection and superb taste are the concepts behind everything he does.

I'm not familiar with the Egg smoker (I don't know if that is the name or I would assume you just call it that because of the shape?) I have a Traeger that is my favorite purchase in the last 5 years. Is the Egg similar to a Traeger in that is uses it wood pellets and indirect heat to cook? I've done brisket, porkloin, ribs, salmon (a family favorite we have almost weekly), and the typical grill stuff- hamburgers, steak, chicken etc. I'm anxious to try out some of your recipes.

We will have to share some recipes, or more importantly techniques. I have experimented and failed trying a lot of different things. I will say a digital thermometer with a remote sensor has made me a much better griller.

The Big Green Egg (http://www.biggreenegg.com/ ) is a ceramic smoker designed after a Kamado, a Japanese wood/charcoal fired earthen vessel used for cooking. Modern Kamado style cookers are now made of ceramic as opposed to the older clay ones. This allows you to use the cooker for low and slow smoking, baking, or searing at 650 deg+. I have an accessory called a plate setter which is basically a 3/4 ceramic barrier that allows you to cook indirect. The Big Green Egg is a very versatile cooker.

There are other brands of Kamado style cookers out there, Big Green Egg is one of the most popular. Primo, Imperial Kamado, Kamoda Kamado, and Grill Dome are others.
