I've been in the market for a decent pellet smoker and I think that I've landed on the Green Mountain Grill Daniel Boone model.

Is it worth holding onto my gas grill for burgers, steaks, and hot dogs? Or, can all of these be done in the smoker?

Ditch the gas and pick up a cheap charcoal grill for searing. Not as easy, but tastes better with the smoker. From time to time I'll reverse sear burgers much like tri-tip. Smoke for about 30 minutes and then throw on a grill.
