  • Sometimes, the simple things in life are best

At the store the other day, getting tomatoes. Lo and behold! some nice beefsteak tomatoes.

Buy a few. Off to the deli. Fresh mozzarella - after a small hunt, it is mine.

Home. The knife comes. Slice slice slice. Three neat stacks of white on red. Sporting allegiances must sit to the side when food is tasty.

Out to the garden for fresh basil. Green and fragrant. A rinse and little more. Green white red. The eye-talians are masters at this.

Olive oil. Just a drizzle. Even less balsamic vinegar.

The sound of peppercorns cracking at my demand.

    I reach nirvana.

This sounds like a middle school poetry contest entrant. I do love me some good tomatoes, though.

I could have done it all as a waka/tanka/haiku but then I'd insist in doing it in Japanese. And that wouldn't help anybody.
