Yeah, yeah. Laugh all you want, but this is harder than you think.
If you're meticulous about the appearance of your eggs-- you probably dont like that greenish ring that forms on the surface of the yolks and ruins what Landpoke calls its "food styling" and what everyone else calls its presentation.
Ive always had good luck with this recipe from wikihow:
4 eggs
Tap water
salt or vinegar (use salt or vinegar in the water to make peeling the egg easier)
1. Fill a pot with enough cold tap water to cover eggs completely by 1 inch. Next, Bring to a rolling boil over high heat. Once the water is brought to a rolling boil, promptly reduce heat to a lower medium boil and cook an additional 10 minutes for a “hard boiled” egg.
2. Remove from heat and immediately place eggs under ice cold water or in a bowl of iced water and chill promptly to help yolks stay bright yellow. Chill for a few minutes in the cold water until the egg is completely cooled. This is an extremely important step which prevents the greenish “ring” from forming on the surface of the yolk over time
Also, the eggs have to be refrigerator cold if you want to slice them prettily for potato salad, so boil those puppies tonight.
