  • How to Boil an Egg

Yeah, yeah. Laugh all you want, but this is harder than you think.

If you're meticulous about the appearance of your eggs-- you probably dont like that greenish ring that forms on the surface of the yolks and ruins what Landpoke calls its "food styling" and what everyone else calls its presentation.

Ive always had good luck with this recipe from wikihow:

    4 eggs
    Tap water
salt or vinegar (use salt or vinegar in the water to make peeling the egg easier)

    1. Fill a pot with enough cold tap water to cover eggs completely by 1 inch. Next, Bring to a rolling boil over high heat. Once the water is brought to a rolling boil, promptly reduce heat to a lower medium boil and cook an additional 10 minutes for a “hard boiled” egg.

    2. Remove from heat and immediately place eggs under ice cold water or in a bowl of iced water and chill promptly to help yolks stay bright yellow. Chill for a few minutes in the cold water until the egg is completely cooled. This is an extremely important step which prevents the greenish “ring” from forming on the surface of the yolk over time

Also, the eggs have to be refrigerator cold if you want to slice them prettily for potato salad, so boil those puppies tonight.

People care about the color of the yolk?

I love boiled eggs and take them very seriously. I was thrilled when I found out about the ice water trick.

Am I the only one who thinks deviling eggs is a crime?

It's an older technique, but I enjoy it.

Yes, TD, we're all fully aware that your yolks don't come free.

Sprinkled with paprika? Sprinkled with cayenne? Or nothing at all? I require cayenne as my grandmother always used. Paprika is no good.
What's to explain? It's a bunch of people, most of whom you've never met, who are just as likely to be homicidal maniacs as they are to be normal everyday people, with whom you share the minutiae of your everyday life. It's totally normal, and everyone would understand.

I am trying to think of an egg format that I do not enjoy.

                        1. Rotten
                        2. Cadbury

                        I love ova. yum!

I tried smoked paprika a few weeks ago. It was different, but I liked it.

I only really like eggs in three different formats.

                            1- Deviled
                            2- Omelet
                            3- Soy boiled

I could not eat a fried, scrambled or poached egg the rest of my life and I wouldn't be one bit sad.
