    Do chukars taste good?

I've got a flock (brood? murder? mayhem? family?) of about 20 of them that live on the hill behind our house. They settle down for the evening inside the gaps in the foundation stones of the rock retaining wall below us. And they get up at a ridiculous time in the morning to cluck their praises to the rising sun. I'm trying to thinking of some horrible chukar 'accident' that might thin their ranks by a little/a lot/completely. Unfortunately, it's not legal to hunt anything in Utah within 600 feet of a residence, so the method of their demise will have to be more creative...

Boiling peanut oil down the rock face? Then throw on a match for good measure? Kill and cook them at once? Maybe go green and get them with a huge parabolic mirror - cook them like ants under a magnifying glass.

I used to hunt chuckars out in the west desert. They taste like pheasant but they have very little meat so it's really not worth the trouble.
"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

Do you have a lot of neighbors? If not, just use a 20 gauge shotgun.

Another option would be to open your back door, sit inside your house, and pick them off with a .22 rifle. Your house will absorb the sound.

While these are very good ideas, you must admit the parabolic mirror has a certain "evil-genius" appeal.

JL describes the appropriate way of shooting chukar before you feast. If you shoot them and do not want them, please send them my way, after cleaning of course.

That's the most awesomest thing I've learned in a long time. I just saved a fortune on pillows.

Great - maybe. But definitely loud as hell. They woke me up at 6:00 this morning, and for whatever reason are out there right now clucking up a storm. At first I thought they were cool. Now I wish they were gone...

You were asking how they taste. They don't make much noise when you're eating them if you clean them correctly. Fun as hell to hunt.
