  • Review: Blue Lemon

    http://www.bluelemonutah.com/

Went for lunch today after hanging out all morning with the wiff (it's rough only working one day a week all spring ). The short review: think Jason's Deli kicked up several notches, all clean and organic food, similar atmosphere. Bistro/cafe style, you walk up and order, take a number, and they bring your food to you. Excellent presentation/plating, for those who appreciate that as part of their eating experience.

I had the 'cusabi' salad, or something like that. Mixed greens, a skewer of grilled shrimp, fennel, cucumbers, a grilled lemon, and a cucumber-wasabi dressing on the side. Nice little wasabi kick, but not overpowering. I enjoyed it all except for the shrimp, which was a bit overdone but otherwise passed the taste test.

Had the tomato bisque with it, came with crouton and shavings of what I'm assuming was parm. Coulda used a little drizzle of some good olive oil, but that's being picky. Good soup.

My wife had the chipotle/pineapple/beef brisket (pulled) sandwich. Great taste, lots of meat on there. Her complaint was that she ended up having to eat it with a fork, with all the juices from the meat soaking through the bottom piece of bread. Kinda ruined it for her. Can't say I disagree. Enjoyed the taste though.

Side of sweet potato fries that were actually yam fries. Pretty decent dipping sauce with it. I'm pretty sure they were baked fries.

Rest of the menu looks decent, not huge but tasteful. Somw good looking desserts. Had a bit of trendy feel to it and the highland/alpine crowd on a Tues afternoon matched that feel. It's located at the intersection of Highland and Alpine highways on the northwest side in a shopping space.

I'd give it a 7/10 for a good lunch spot. Taste was good, flavors clean, ingredients good, fresh. I won't go back a ton, but I'll probably hit it again sometime in the future and try other things on the menu. The $10 chef's selection 3-course lunch at Spark remains the best lunch in Utah County by a good mile.

Is this the one on the corner space in the Kohler's strip?

It is in the new strip mall north of Kohler's. On the NW corner of the intersection.

That intersection is a virtual ground zero for food. Subway, Dominoes, Kohlers Deli, barbacoa, and don't forget that you can get hot dogs and nachos at the KK while you fill up your car!
