These were delicious- I gave this recipe 5 stars. However, I tasted the batter before cooking and was worried that it might be a little bland so I added more cinnamon, nutmeg, and some allspice. I also changed the baking time from 30 minutes to 40 minutes. I also increased the cream cheese by 50%. What a great recipe.
    This means:

This recipe was mediocre at best but due to my genius adaptations, it is now worthy of a 5 star rating.

This brownie recipe was a great success in my home. However, to reduce the calories I substituted tevia for the sugar, and cut the sugar amount in half. And to cut down on the fat I used margarine instead of butter. And instead of chocolate pudding added to the mix, I used applesauce. My family loved it and my husband said it was the best he'd ever tasted!
    What this means:

Look what a great cook I am! I can be healthy and still have my brownies loved by my family. I am entirely unaware that my kids are starved for treats and would eat moss off the north side of a tree if I sprinkled sugar on it. And my husband is a wuss and will praise anything I bake.

This chinese recipe was scrumptious. I made it for my grad school friends from my lab- they are from China, and they loved it.
      What this means:

Since I don't know what authentic Chinese tastes like, I followed the recipe and tried it out on real chinese people. Never mind that this recipe is szechuan and until they arrived in the US they had never been south of Heilongjiang. They made polite noises and I am an international success as a cook!

Not to mention that margarine doesn't have less fat than butter, unless you are using margarine that shouldn't be used for baking.

I was curious about that, too. Butter = 100% fat. Margarine = 100% fat.

I read through this recipe and it reminded me of growing up in San Juan, where my grandmother would prepare this every Friday night. But when I made it, it didn't taste the same. I give it 1 out of 5 stars.
            What this means:

This recipe sucks, because it doesn't taste exactly like the food made by an old woman in the 1950s, using ingredients found only in Puerto Rico.

Katy, I just wanted to recognize that you've been bringing fire lately. Good work.

Margarine is WAY less healthy though. Good for her for trying and all that.
