  • My new favorite dessert.

I bought the little mini angle food cakes at Costco today. We also bought some fresh blackberries and raspberries. Put the cake in a bowl and filled it with berries and a little skim milk. Sprinkled about a teaspoon of Splenda on top. Delish, filling, and under 200 calories.

Sounds great, except for when you ruined it with Splenda.

Yum. Angel food cake is a nice little way to cheat the system because it has almost zero fat, low carbs, and relatively few calories for a dessert.

Splenda leaves a weird aftertaste for me. I don't like it. Did you have to learn to enjoy the taste?

My wife went to costco yesterday and bought a box of Skinny Cow ice cream sandwiches. I had one last night. Those things are pretty dang good, I was impressed. 140 calories and a few grams of fat never tasted so good.

I haven't fallen in love with Splenda. I'm no Nikuman, but I've lost over 20 pounds since April 1st. A lot of that has to do with just completely cutting out most things with sugar. I just started adding some desserts back this week. So a teaspoon or so on some berries doesn't taste bad at all. This morning we made almond butter pancakes. They were awesome. We made syrup that was 1 pint of fresh strawberries, about 1/3 cup of Splenda, and 1/2 cup of water. The almond pancakes and that syrup was very good, but that much Splenda has that funky aftertaste. It is not bad, but you can taste it. Still, it was a good breakfast.

For lunch today we had chicken lime tequila sausages. 100 calories per sausage. Whole wheat bun. My wife and I each had one and a half. With the bun and toppings, under 300 calories and filling. Tastes like I'm cheating the diet but not.

I looked at the Skinny Cow bars yesterday. I'm not a big fan of ice cream sandwiches unless they have Toll House cookies as the bread. I was going to ask people on here if they had tried them and if so if they were good. I'll pick some up my next time there.

I would go to the grocery store and just buy a small pack of Skinny Cows first, to make sure you dig them. No need buying a 72-hour kit worth of ice cream sandwiches if you don't like them after one bite. The one downer about buying them at costco is that you only can get vanilla or chocolate. At the store, you can get mint, peanut butter, vanilla, chocolate, cookie and cream and strawberry. They come in a pack of 5 or 6 for a few bucks.

The greatest dessert ever is tiramisù.

Angel food cake is a waste of dessert. It tastes like a sugar-coated dish sponge.

Il Pad has the right idea. My two favorite desserts are tiramisu and creme brulee.

Only if they use lots of real rum. I think Katy L and I had a thread about this earlier.

Rum is actually optional for tiramisù. It's added frequently, but not required.

You have zoob in your blood, as evidenced by your adherence to all things mission. I would not be shocked to find out that you have an Italy flag t-shirt!

My favorite dessert is a slice of hot blackberry pie or cobbler topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

A close second (maybe a tie) would be a hot chocolate souffle. I am especially partial to the one they serve at Roy's.

No Italy flag t-shirts. Never had one.

I do have an Italy flag that flies lower than the Stars and Stripes. No UN protocol at my house.
