  • Tortillas - health

Since corn tortillas are loaded with starch, which is worse for you: corn or white flour tortillas?

I've gotta have my tacos, but I can't eat them with Wheat Thins. I refuse.

Don't regular white flour tortillas have something like 300 calories each? It's just flour and lard.

My wife uses some wheat tortillas that only have 110 calories each, but I just can't get with the wheat tortilla idea.

Since I started tracking on fitday, I haven't eaten a single tortilla. They are not really great for the diet. But I miss them and look forward to seeing them again someday.

        Whole wheat.

But corn have got to be better than white.
What's to explain? It's a bunch of people, most of whom you've never met, who are just as likely to be homicidal maniacs as they are to be normal everyday people, with whom you share the minutiae of your everyday life. It's totally normal, and everyone would understand.

The ones from Costco run about 120 per, IIRC.

BTW, you were right. I did eat at Ninfa's last night. Two fajitas and some guac. Planned binge for the anniversary.

Feels like a ton of lead in my stomach right now, though.

Over the weekend I went to this mexican place in East LA and ate a huge burrito. I asked them to make it without the tortilla, which cut the 1200 calories down to about 1000. I felt proud of my efforts.

I'm not entirely sure how many I pounded last night, but I suspect it was a lot. Still, I burned 1300 on my 9 mile run Monday, and then I spent all of Monday night/Tuesday morning being sick and throwing things up. So I needed some sort of nourishment.

nikuman I see you're down to 198 now, congrats. Years ago when I hit 219 and dieted, I remember the feeling from seeing 199.5 on the scale. Awesome.

I will freely admit that I let out a primal scream of joy throughout the house. It probably woke up the neighbors. It was a major, major deal. I have 13 pounds to go.

The tortillaland ones from Costco that you cook yourself are only 140 calories per The Daily Plate.

My wife made some home-made flour tortillas the other day for kicks.

I wasn't playing close attention, but it seemed like all it had was flour, a tablespoon of oil, some water, and maybe some baking soda.

While I understand it probably isn't the most healthy product on the planet, I remember thinking that the ingredients didn't sound overly unhealthy - particularly with as little oil as she put in.
