I really like the burgers at this place. Had a teri burger there last week. But they were out of advocado again, just as they were last time I was there in '10. Seriously, two years and they can't turn up an advocado?Originally posted by Katy Lied View PostIn Haleiwa, Kua Aina Sandwich is right across the street from BK's Surf Shop on the main road. Very good sandwiches. There is also a Kua Aina in Ward Warehouse in town, but the one in the country is better. Plus, you can stop by BK's and say hi to Leslie, his wife.
Also ate at Alan Wong's. It was good, but the dishes were a bit clumsy for a chef of his caliber and recognition.
Went to Leonard's...twice.
Ate shave ice...a lot. Hit Waiola, which is probably my fav.
My cousin (the one that rocks the uke) took me to get ahi poke at this awesome place called Ono Seafood. I don't think I've made half a pound of raw fish disappear faster. They also had a really good tako poke. It's right down the street from Ono Hawaiian Foods on Kapahulu.
Ate poke at Fresh Catch in Kaneohe twice. Also good, but not quite on the level as the above.
Also ate way too many eclairs from Deluxe. Not very traditional in terms of eclairs, but I love them.
Went to an auntie's b-day party in the housing projects outside Aiea and it was a huge feast. Kalua pig, lomi salmon, poke, mac salad, chicken long rice, pineapple with li hing mui, squid luau, lau lau, haupia, chocolate dobash cake, poi, etc.
Drank coconuts and ate too much pineapple and papaya.
Checked out this new place in Kaneohe Bay called He'eia Pier General Store and Deli. Actually, not new, but taken over by some hip chefs. Had some great guava chicken, mac salad made with a type of taro I had never tried before, some tossed veggies straight from the local market that morning. Yum. Pretty out of the way from where most people stay, but close to where my family lives and just down the road from the chapel in Kaneohe.
Ate at the food court at Shirokiya, which is always epic in its awesomeness.
Probably told my family at least a dozen times that I don't get why people from the mainland don't like poi.
Had Portuguese sausage with my breakfast almost every morning. Can't seem to find the same thing around here. (feel free to make a joke here)
The only place I missed and really wanted to hit was this new place called Town (awesome name) that people were buzzing on. Guess it will have to wait for next time.So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

It’s real, and it’s spectacular.
